To become highly skilled at playing your class you need to do a few things. The first thing is to become better at your own class and there is only one way of doing that - play it like you mean it. Log several raids until you know every trick that your class can do.
When you feel comfortable with your own class it is time to study! Boring but oh so usefull. Knowing your enemies spells better than they do is key to getting an advantage. When faced with a Mage that is familiar with all your tricks it comes down to whom can counter the other player best.
In raids you do well be very familiar with your class to the fullest but also what and why the other classes are doing what they are doing. Talking to your class leader and most of all asking your class leader questions is a quick way of knowing your class to the fullest.
Most important in raiding is controlled temper and if you become great at that as a person you will rapidly advance in your guild ranks.
